Day two with our daughter!!!

There are not enough words to describe how much we already love this little girl.  We took video of her first words to us in English today.  She called us Momma and Papa.  We really think she knows who we are because she went right to us when we entered the visiting area at the orphanage.  We would love to post the video, but we can't because we do not have enough bandwidth, but will post them all when we get home.  Tomorrow, we will visit her again and also Thursday and Friday.  Then, it will be so sad on Sunday when we have to leave to come back without her, but all the more incentive to get the remaining paperwork completed.

    Our IA doctor gave us an absolute go! She has a case of scabies right now, but completely curable. Other than that, she has a little psycho-motor speech delay, but she can practically run. She loves to walk around the room holding our fingers, but she is also very affectionate! Yesterday, all she wanted was one of us to hold and cuddle her because she has a cold. :-(

    Whoo-hooo! That is fabulous. All the kids are delayed - that's hardly a crisis. Scabies? Big deal. I sure hope you get her home by Christmas. That would just be so perfect. Your parents have to be on pins and needles!

    I personally know two families that have adopted from Vlad - both girls, both around 2 years old at the time of adoption. Both home about 4 years now. Gone very, very well. The children are well cared-for and that makes attachment easier for all.

    I am really, really happy for you! And if you haven't read and re-read "Attaching in Adoption" by Deborah Gray - now's the time, girl.

    Thanks Becky! That has been my reading on the plane. I'm getting her a pacifier and bottle for at least the plane ride home. She LOVES being held and cuddled though by us and even lets Aaron cuddle with her. She seems to want that the most! I personally think she is going to be a daddy's girl!

The emotions of just beginning.....

Russia is at a standstill---it seems!!!

Please keep Aaron and I in your thoughts and prayers because we were called a couple of weeks ago by our adoption agency and because of what the woman in Tennessee did, referrals have slowed dramatically in Russia.  It could be anywhere between now and December to March 2011 time frame before we even get information on a child.  With that kind of delay, Aaron and discussed switching to domestic adoption and we've already paid thousands into this program so we've decided to wait it our for now....realizing that our timing is not always God's timing and that HE is never late (though sometimes we feel like he is).  The only positive thing we see in all of this is that they haven't shut down the Russian adoption program and we are still in line for a little one.  We think some things just have to be worked out and hope it happens soon.  Though, in situations like this there is really only one thing we CAN do....and that is trust God....our maker and creator!  W...

We can't wait to meet our baby....

One day, I shall turn all of this into a book, beginning of when Aaron & I met and going forward.  There are not many couples who can say they met on e-harmony, have traveled extensively and that are now adopting a beautiful baby girl from literally the other side of the world!  This blog has been very therapeutic for me.  I know it has for many other families who have and are adopting as well.  I hope we can keep it up once our little girl is home so that other families have the kind of encouragement I have.   Aaron spoke to Oksana, our Russian coordinator/translator and she seems very nice!  We are thoroughly impressed with the service and the hospitality extended to us through Beacon House and Building Blocks.  I've said it before on this, but we would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone wishing to adopt internationally.  They are SO very personable and always available to talk when you need them!!!!
