Day two with our daughter!!!

There are not enough words to describe how much we already love this little girl.  We took video of her first words to us in English today.  She called us Momma and Papa.  We really think she knows who we are because she went right to us when we entered the visiting area at the orphanage.  We would love to post the video, but we can't because we do not have enough bandwidth, but will post them all when we get home.  Tomorrow, we will visit her again and also Thursday and Friday.  Then, it will be so sad on Sunday when we have to leave to come back without her, but all the more incentive to get the remaining paperwork completed.

    Our IA doctor gave us an absolute go! She has a case of scabies right now, but completely curable. Other than that, she has a little psycho-motor speech delay, but she can practically run. She loves to walk around the room holding our fingers, but she is also very affectionate! Yesterday, all she wanted was one of us to hold and cuddle her because she has a cold. :-(

    Whoo-hooo! That is fabulous. All the kids are delayed - that's hardly a crisis. Scabies? Big deal. I sure hope you get her home by Christmas. That would just be so perfect. Your parents have to be on pins and needles!

    I personally know two families that have adopted from Vlad - both girls, both around 2 years old at the time of adoption. Both home about 4 years now. Gone very, very well. The children are well cared-for and that makes attachment easier for all.

    I am really, really happy for you! And if you haven't read and re-read "Attaching in Adoption" by Deborah Gray - now's the time, girl.

    Thanks Becky! That has been my reading on the plane. I'm getting her a pacifier and bottle for at least the plane ride home. She LOVES being held and cuddled though by us and even lets Aaron cuddle with her. She seems to want that the most! I personally think she is going to be a daddy's girl!

Today, we visited Katie again at the baby home in Ussirysk and returned to find out that the entire city of 800,000 in Vladivostok has no water today.  They turned it off apparently to fix pipes before the cold season.  This is really roughing it for us! No showers tonight and no laundry either.  I was going to wash some clothes, but we will just have to do without tonight.  Often, as Americans, I think we forget some of the luxuries we are afforded when others in this world, like our Katie are not so lucky.  But WE are the ones who are eternally blessed that God allowed this match between us to happen. Home Study Approved!!!!!!!

So, today was one heck of a day!  I was down in the dirt and worried about what that woman in Tennessee did with sending her child back unaccompanied to Russia.  And, we got a call and our home study was approved by Beacon House!!!  We are SO happy!!!  So, from here, we just have to wait for the home study to be sent back to us, notarized and certified then we can send it on to immigrations.  We have to wait for our I-171H approval before we can officially submit our first set of dossier documents!!!  We are half way there, according to our agency!!!  I can't believe it!  This is one of those "small victories" that life sends us on days when we really, really need it!

We are home....FINALLY & update on Katie from Pediatrician!

Hello from the wonderful U.S. of A!!!  I am so GLAD to be home and in our own environment!!! Our air travel didn't exactly go as planned and we made it home after 1am!  She is SUCH a trooper and handled the flights miraculously!!!  She slept the entire flight from Vlad to Moscow.  The first night in Moscow she went right down to bed and did wonderfully!  The flight from Moscow to Washington D.C. was quite a different story for little miss!  She didn't want a SINGLE toy that I packed for her to play with or even anything to eat.  There were a lot of Russian men on the plane and she must have went up to every one of them, charming them and then they picked her up and said something to her in Russian and this trend continued for the 9 1/2 of the ten hour flight.  She did not sleep but just for 30 minutes on that long flight from Moscow, so neither did I.  (I am about to go to sleep as Aaron has stepped in and kind of taken over until ...
