What a scary evening....but praying all is okay!

I know this blog should really only pertain to all things adoption, but I have to write about this somewhere or I might really scream!  Does anyone else feel like they have it all together and then one things happens out of our ordinary patterns and we kind of freak out?  Well, that is what happened tonight.  I had been talking to my maternal grandmother (who basically raised me, as my mom was a teen mother and with my brother's health problems, she had to take care of him mostly!   Anyway, this wonderful grandmother of mine had what she thought was a stomach virus all this week.  She got SO dehydrated that my grandfather had to force her to go to the emergency room this evening.  Well, she is a type II Diabetic and that makes things worse for her also.  He basically had to drag/carry her to get her there.  She had some blood work taken and the ER doctor sent her home with medication to treat her pyelonephritis (kidney infection) and she will see the specialist on Monday. Please keep us in your prayers on this as well, along with the adoption stuff.    EXPECT a USCIS I-171 H Amendment this week, sometime after Tuesday and at the latest with a Saturday Fed Ex delivery to us.  Then, we can move forward with our documents, complete the processing and submit them before the end of the month.  The end goal is to get them to region of Vlad on or before November 4th.  If we do that, we may have a fighting chance of getting a hearing before the Russian Christmas to bring home our daughter!!!

    Becky,

    Today we got the confirmation that our amendment to the I-171H is being overnighted using Fedex to us and I am going to the Secretary of State to have everything apostilled Monday the 25th. Our agency is hopeful that we will get a hearing before the end of the year and so is Beacon House.

Day two with our daughter!!!

There are not enough words to describe how much we already love this little girl.  We took video of her first words to us in English today.  She called us Momma and Papa.  We really think she knows who we are because she went right to us when we entered the visiting area at the orphanage.  We would love to post the video, but we can't because we do not have enough bandwidth, but will post them all when we get home.  Tomorrow, we will visit her again and also Thursday and Friday.  Then, it will be so sad on Sunday when we have to leave to come back without her, but all the more incentive to get the remaining paperwork completed. Here are a couple photos from today.   We have the same face shape!!!  She already loves her daddy!!!

Today, we spent about an hour and a half with Katie and it was late when we got to the orphanage because our coordinator had court today with another family.  She wasn't in the greatest of moods when we first arrived, but Aaron and I were able to calm her.  I did the calming part and Aaron is just the BIG kid and made her laugh so much!  At first she wouldn't even go to him until he started to play the piano with her.  She really, really loves music and when we get home we will post video of her singing with her daddy.  So, just hang on a couple months little Princess Katie and mommy & daddy will be back to take you home to your forever family! Her smile is contagious! That smile makes me melt everytime and especially when she reaches out her little hand for Mommy!!! Mom's the comforter and daddy's the BIG kid!!! Today, we visited Katie again at the baby home in Ussirysk and returned to find out that the entire city of 800,000 in Vladivostok has no water today.  They turned it off apparently to fix pipes before the cold season.  This is really roughing it for us! No showers tonight and no laundry either.  I was going to wash some clothes, but we will just have to do without tonight.  Often, as Americans, I think we forget some of the luxuries we are afforded when others in this world, like our Katie are not so lucky.  But WE are the ones who are eternally blessed that God allowed this match between us to happen.
