First visit with our daughter after four months...& medical exams
This morning Aaron and I had a wonderful visit with Katie! She remembered us and we were told that after we left from our first trip last September, she was asking about her parents. That made me so sad as her mother. Yes, even though court is not until this Friday, the 11th..I do consider myself her mother and Aaron considers himself her father. Here are some photos from today's visit.
Also, the medical exams were not nearly as bad as we had heard because it was so cold in the building. So, we did not have to strip or take off our clothes at all except for the doctor to listen to our hearts. I think they got a hoot out of my cleavage or something because I raised my shirt in that exam more times than I ever have in an American one. We found them quite interesting....and some of the questions from the "Narcologist," were hilarious. They asked Aaron when he last drank and he said on the plane. Well, the story is...there was complimentary Wine on Delta and he had a glass of White Wine. When he answered yes that he had, the narcologist asked, "What do you prefer?" To which, my love answers an occasional glass of wine. The narcologist replied, "No Vodka? No Beer?" He asked if we had ever smoked and I said no, but Aaron said yes because of his love for cigars...and the narcologist asked when. Aaron said a few months back because he quits in Winter as it is too cold to go outside to smoke. :LOL Maybe someone should ask the Narcologist which drug he prefers? All of that for over a thousand dollars. It was one of the weirdest medical exams we have ever undertaken (to include the Neurologist's sobriety-like test on us...where we had to put our arms out & walk forward. Then, to put our arms out and touch our noses with our eyes shut. :-) Then, the Internist or so I think he was asked Aaron had he always been that skinny. You just gotta roll with the punches. Without being here, it is really hard to describe. It is just before 6pm over here now and Aaron's napping because he was so tired today. I think since I slept better than he did on the way over here and not on the tile, cold floor in the Moscow airport, I am doing better with the jet lag. I feel it about 2pm, then get a surge of energy later. By the time Aaron's body catches up, he will be heading back home...leaving his wife and child on the other side of the world. I'm not nervous though because there are tons of women here who are doing this waiting period after court without their husbands. I brought plenty of things to read and we at least have internet! :-) Friday the 11th is our court date and if you're praying, please pray all goes well. Remember that we are about 15 hours ahead of the Eastern time zone, so 16 hours ahead of the rest of our family. We can't wait to bring our precious, God-given daughter home and for everyone to meet her. We love her SO much!!!
Katie definitely loves to be cuddled!!! Today she was so so sweet!! |
