Safe for now....maybe?

Well, I just talked to Aaron and it appears we are possibly safe for now from a deployment.  His commander agreed to recognize our adoption as something that could not continue without Aaron being here and basically said he would hold off one for him until January.  While this is no guarantee (because some higher-up could trump this decision), it does appear to be a small victory and a reason, for the moment to breathe easy.  Though, I am not sure you really ever do breathe easy with life in the Air Force.  It comes with many, many benefits and that one huge downside that could mean long separations.  It's something I am not sure any military wife would be accustomed to at all, but certainly something we TRY to get used to (the operative word being, TRY).  :-)  Please keep praying for us and our family....that we can become a family of three sometime this year and that there are no snags in our adoption plans.

Today, we visited Katie again at the baby home in Ussirysk and returned to find out that the entire city of 800,000 in Vladivostok has no water today.  They turned it off apparently to fix pipes before the cold season.  This is really roughing it for us! No showers tonight and no laundry either.  I was going to wash some clothes, but we will just have to do without tonight.  Often, as Americans, I think we forget some of the luxuries we are afforded when others in this world, like our Katie are not so lucky.  But WE are the ones who are eternally blessed that God allowed this match between us to happen. What a scary evening....but praying all is okay!

I know this blog should really only pertain to all things adoption, but I have to write about this somewhere or I might really scream!  Does anyone else feel like they have it all together and then one things happens out of our ordinary patterns and we kind of freak out?  Well, that is what happened tonight.  I had been talking to my maternal grandmother (who basically raised me, as my mom was a teen mother and with my brother's health problems, she had to take care of him mostly!   Anyway, this wonderful grandmother of mine had what she thought was a stomach virus all this week.  She got SO dehydrated that my grandfather had to force her to go to the emergency room this evening.  Well, she is a type II Diabetic and that makes things worse for her also.  He basically had to drag/carry her to get her there.  She had some blood work taken and the ER doctor sent her home with medication to treat her pyelonephritis (kidney infection) and she wil...
