Genetic Issue linked with our daughter...

Last week, Aaron and I found out that Katie has Favism or G6PD Deficiency.  I think through this I want to spread awareness about this.  The web site: http://g6pddeficiency.org/index.php, gives a great deal of info about this, but we will find out more this Wednesday when we go back to the International Adoption Center in Cincinnati.  It has to do with Katie's red blood cells breaking down (hemolysis) and causing hemolytic anemia if she eats certain foods or ingests certain drugs.

Please pray with us as we work toward a clear understanding of what Katie can and can't eat.  She likes to eat EVERYTHING!!!!  :-)  She is also such a trooper too because she had an appointment at her regular pediatrician, Dr. Slojic, at WPAFB Pediatric Clinic on Friday.  He ordered an EKG and to have her ears irrigated.  The EKG was to be sure she does not have the incomplete bundle of a set of nerves in her heart called the His' and that was normal.  So, he will consult with the cardiologist, but basically he thinks she outgrew this and there are no problems in that area.  She does have to see a Pediatric Hematologist at Dayton Children's and in Baltimore because G6PDD can be more serious if it is ignored.

Hopefully, we will never have to deal with the consequences of not knowing that she is having any issues with that as we will get all the education we can about it.

Today, we braved church as a family of three for Sunday School only for the first time.  Katie naps from 12:30-3pm so it is difficult to do both hours and then make sure we feed her lunch and keep her on schedule.  And, boy does she get cranky, cranky if she gets off schedule!!!  Nana Rose (Aaron's mom) comes this Saturday and I hope to post more after our visit to the IA doctor this coming Wednesday.  But, I have a minor procedure Thursday (thank goodness for Sarah and Tim Dooley for letting Katie come to their house and stay with Grace) so I may not get to post for a couple weeks.

If not before then...Happy Easter all!  He has RISEN!!!
