No news yet....just a lot of anxiety...

This week will be a month since we submitted our Russian dossier docs.  We ask that you continue to pray for us as we await word on our little one. Last week, I chose a renowned International Adoption Pediatrician to evaluate the medical records once we receive a referral for a little baby girl.  Since the language and medical terminology is so different in Russia, this is almost a must have when adopting internationally.  We are SO blessed that out of about a dozen International Adoption Clinics in the country that we're located just about 45 miles from one and they offer a lot of services after we bring our little princess home also.  It also put us at ease that Dr. Staat is an adoptive mother of three children herself.  This month will be a relatively busy month for us and then on August 12th Aaron and I will celebrate our four year wedding anniversary.  We're trying to plan a little getaway the week after that just for a long weekend because we know once we do bring this little baby into our family, getting away together....just the two of us will be much more difficult.  However, taking family vacations together with our little one will be so awesome!!  Plus, she will have the three best sets of grandparents that parents could ask for.  They've already done so much for our princess and she isn't even here yet.  Thank you to all who have prayed and please continue to pray for our little Katie Allison--that wherever she is, she is getting love and being cared for.  We'll keep everyone updated as we go through the process, but all we can do now is wait and pray.

Today, we visited Katie again at the baby home in Ussirysk and returned to find out that the entire city of 800,000 in Vladivostok has no water today.  They turned it off apparently to fix pipes before the cold season.  This is really roughing it for us! No showers tonight and no laundry either.  I was going to wash some clothes, but we will just have to do without tonight.  Often, as Americans, I think we forget some of the luxuries we are afforded when others in this world, like our Katie are not so lucky.  But WE are the ones who are eternally blessed that God allowed this match between us to happen. Something to celebrate....yeah!!!

So, today we received an update from our agency on the status of Russian adoptions.  It looks as if (thank God) that the U.S. and Russia will reach an agreement and adoptions will not be halted like what was originally reported.  Our home study was sent to immigration on April 26th, so I am hoping for a speedy approval and that all-important I-171H to be in our mailbox before the middle of June.  Between Aaron, myself and our adoption coordinator, we agreed that I would begin the first dossier (which is the Russian documents we send in to get our referral--and meet our little Katie Allison).  We will get to begin these sooner than expected and will be doing so the last week of May.  I hope to have them finished so as soon as the I-171H comes in, we can send them to our agency for review and then I can take them to Columbus to the Secretary of State's office for their apostille.  I can't believe we are FINALLY at this point and it feels like we are moving in...
